About Sportsbet:

Sportsbet is the market leader in the Australian online sports betting market. The brand features innovative, easy to use products and personalized value, making it a favourite among users. 

Role Overview:

You are enthusiastic, motivated, and have a drive to learn more about the Java-based application development tools and processes. We like Java, Spring, application servers and event streaming based on Kafka. And of course, everything will be deployed in AWS cloud using GitHub runners.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• The intern role is involved in the full software lifecycle, works as part of our scrum teams and can make a real impact from day one. We'll give you the time and support to build up your skills and contribute to delivering great products.

• Take ownership of tasks as you work through them with assistance and support (when you need it).

• Strengthen your Java skills.

• Focus on your own development through on-the-job experience and actively seeking learning opportunities.

• Get involved in discussions about how we can improve our products, services, and processes.

• You'll work towards understanding and learning what the testing process for your code implies.

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required:

• You are willing to expand your knowledge on software development and delivery, testing technologies; You are familiar with the JVM programming language.

• You are focused on learning about development technologies and getting to grips with the complex interactions between them.

• You are ready to follow secure coding principles and technical design principles (e.g. scalability, reliability, and high availability).

• Demonstrate basic data modelling and interaction knowledge.

• Show an awareness of reusability techniques (e.g., design patterns, library extraction, new component creation).
