Position Summary

The Merchandising Intern will support the Merchandise team by assisting with daily operations, contributing to ongoing projects, and developing skills in assortment planning and category analysis, product performance and sales analysis, inventory and lifecycle management, vendor and cross-functional coordination, and trend awareness / strategic thinking.

This role is ideal for students who are curious, motivated, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities (All Interns)

  • Support department initiatives through research, documentation, and project coordination
  • Assist with cross-functional collaboration across the 1-800-Flowers family of brands
  • Attend team meetings, present findings, and share progress with stakeholders
  • Participate in internship learning sessions, networking opportunities, and workshops
  • Contribute ideas to enhance business processes and improve customer experience

Sample Function-Specific Add-Ons

Merchandising

  • Assist in assortment planning and category analysis
  • Track product performance, pricing strategies, and vendor coordination
  • Support seasonal product launches and inventory reviews
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Merchandising
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in data and sales analysis basics, excel, spreadsheet skills, organization and attention to detail, communication and coordination skills, and interest in merchandising and market trends.
  • Demonstrated interest in Merchandising and how product assortment, pricing, and presentation drive customer demand and sales performance is a plus.

The expected hourly rate for this position is $19.00. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law.
