2026 Research Intern, AI Algorithm Design for 6G (Summer)

<p><strong>Lab Summary:</strong> The Standards &amp; Mobility Innovation (SMI) team is committed to developing technologies that enable ubiquitous access to information and provide immersive multimedia experiences for mobility users.&nbsp; Our research focuses on:</p> <ul> <li>Wireless standards and technology including Wi-Fi, 5G, LTE-A, IoT</li> <li>RF &amp; fast prototyping of 5G and IEEE 802 wireless systems and/or use cases</li> <li>Multimedia standards and technology including VR, HDR, All-IP delivery.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Position Summary:</strong>&nbsp; Join the SMI team of Samsung Research America in Plano, Texas to contribute to 6G wireless AI (artificial intelligence) algorithm &amp; system design, IPR development and proof-of concept design.</p> <p><strong>Position Responsibilities</strong><strong>: </strong></p> <ul> <li>The research intern will contribute to some of the followings: <ul> <li>6G wireless communication AI algorithm design and simulations</li> <li>6G Air interface / fronthaul interface design towards 3GPP / O-RAN standards</li> <li>Technical documentation, e.g., technical report, development specifications, etc.</li> <li>Patent and IPR generation</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Currently pursuing a PhD</li> <li>Sound technical background in signal processing, AI &amp; machine learning (ML), wireless communication systems and algorithms</li> <li>Hands-on coding skills (e.g., Matlab, Python, C/C++)</li> <li>Ability to clearly define high level requirements and criteria to be used in the evaluation of air interface technology alternatives</li> <li>Have knowledge / experiences on some of the followings: <ul> <li>Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms and software tools</li> <li>Advanced radio access technologies such as MIMO, OFDM, OFDMA, Single Carrier FDMA, physical/MAC layers, etc.</li> <li>Simulation of cellular network technologies, to derive tradeoffs and to predict performance in diverse channel conditions</li> <li>Multiple antenna (MIMO) and beamforming technologies and digital signal processing</li> </ul> </li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively represent the derived results and technical concepts developed in the course of the work</li> <li>Ability to work within Samsung in cross-functional, cross-divisional teams</li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description">Our total rewards programs are designed to motivate and engage exceptional talent.
