Environmental Science Intern

Role description: Arcadis is seeking a detail oriented, well organized, dependable Geology Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering intern to join our Chicago, IL office in Summer 2026. This internship opportunity requires attention to detail, strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills. Role accountabilities: Office responsibilities may include the following: Support environmental communications Data management (compilation, manipulation, and evaluation of data) Assisting with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda Preparing cost estimates and proposals Coordinating work schedules with subcontractors Conducting project related research (historical data, regulations, etc.) and preparing periodic status/program reports Figure/map/boring log production While this role will be predominantly office-based, the candidate may have limited exposure to field activities which may include the following: Oversight of drilling operations (installing monitoring wells and soil or rock descriptions) Soil, groundwater, and air sampling in compliance with State and Federal standards Emergency response Operation and maintenance of subsurface remediation systems which may include aquifer pump testing Subcontractor oversight Underground and above ground storage tank inspection, testing, and repair/alteration oversight Qualifications & Experience: Pursuing a BS in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related science discipline.
