About the Role

Funding Societies | Modalku is the largest SME digital finance platform in Southeast Asia. We are licensed and operating  in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, and backed by Sequoia India (Peak XV), Softbank Vision Fund, Khazanah and SMBC bank amongst many others. Funding Societies | Modalku provides business financing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which is funded by individual and institutional investors, as well as payments solutions to SMEs and consumers.

What will you do:

  • Payment Monitoring & Tracking:
    • Monitor daily repayment schedules and assist in identifying accounts that have moved into early-stage delinquency (past due).
    • Help reconcile payments received against the loan management system to ensure data accuracy.
  • Customer Outreach (Early Stage):
    • Send payment reminders to clients via email, SMS, and WhatsApp in a professional and timely manner.
    • Under supervision, conduct first-level follow-up calls to understand reasons for non-payment and encourage immediate settlement.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Draft and issue standard correspondence, such as demand letters or payment notices, ensuring they comply with internal policies.
    • Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and customer interactions in our CRM/Collections system.
  • Data & Reporting:
    • Assist in preparing "Aging Reports" (tracking how long debts have been unpaid) for management review.
    • Support the team in skip-tracing (researching contact details) for uncontactable clients using open-source intelligence.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss difficult cases and learn how to structure repayment plans for struggling SMEs.

What are we looking for:

  • Educational Background: Undergraduate pursuing Finance, Banking, Law, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written command of English (and local language proficiency is a strong plus). You must be confident speaking on the phone.
  • Resilient: Able to handle rejection or difficult conversations without taking it personally.
  • Empathetic but Firm: Understands the balance between listening to a customer’s hardship and adhering to company policy.
  • Tech Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets (basic formulas, vlookups) and comfortable learning new software.
  • Integrity: High ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive/confidential financial data with care.

This internship comes with a monthly allowance of RM1,000.
