About The Company
Hartzell Propeller Inc. is the global leader in advanced aircraft propeller and airplane propeller design and aircraft propeller and airplane propeller manufacturing technology. Because of our concentration and commitment to propeller driven aviation, we are the supplier of choice for nearly every major aircraft manufacturer. The company traces its history to 1914 when a relationship between Orville Wright and Robert Hartzell led to the manufacture of the first Hartzell airplane propeller in 1917. The company’s founding principle of “Built on Honor” has been central to our corporate values from the very beginning. Today, Hartzell aircraft propellers are produced using an innovative blend of sophisticated engineering analytics, certification skills and world class manufacturing technologies. We design for safety, performance and reliability. After more than nine decades of experience, we have unmatched engineering expertise and we offer a wide range of products that utilize both aerospace grade alloys and advanced structural composites. We enjoy exclusive relationships with dozens of manufacturers in the United States and around the world. Hartzell aircraft and airplane propellers are designed for use on virtually all of today’s power plants. Our current product line includes 2- through 6-bladed propellers for general aviation through turboprop class aircraft, with engine ratings that range from 80 to 2,180 hp. We have expanded our product line to include propeller systems for hovercraft and wing-in-ground effect (WIG) craft. In addition to aircraft and airplane propellers, Hartzell also offers its own line of aircraft and airplane propeller controls (governors), spinners and de-ice systems.
About the Role

Description

Hartzell Propeller, founded in 1917 and headquartered in Piqua, Ohio, is the global leader in advanced aircraft propeller design and manufacturing for general aviation. The company supports both piston-engine and turboprop aircraft and provides custom propulsion solutions for electric, hybrid-electric, and advanced air mobility programs. Hartzell has continued to expand its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, including Tanis Aircraft Products in 2021 and Whirlwind Propeller in 2024, strengthening its experimental market offerings. Since 2024, Hartzell has also enhanced its MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) presence through the acquisition of 9 separate MRO facilities across North America and Europe.

In this role, you may gain hands-on experience across a variety of engineering functions within a technical organization. Responsibilities may include supporting designing the next generation of propeller hardware, mechanical or aerodynamic analysis, participating in shop and lab activities, and assisting with the fabrication and testing of components, assemblies, and functional prototypes. You may contribute to the design and build of tools, fixtures, and test apparatus, collect and analyze engineering data, and document results through technical reports. The role may also involve researching new technologies and materials, communicating findings to the team, and creating or updating engineering documentation such as bills of materials (BOMs), process specifications, standard work instructions, and tool sheets. We work with incoming co-ops to match their learning objectives with the right opportunity within the engineering department.
