About the Role & Program

Join the Content Understanding Data Science team within Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer business as a summer intern. You will work with a group of senior data scientists to fine-tune pre-trained models developing Multi-Modal ML models to extract meaningful metadata from video, image, audio, artwork, and text that could be used in numerous downstream applications such as segmentation, forecasting, targeting, and recommendation. These applications can drive significant impacts in Content Programming, Curation, Marketing, and Ads.  

You will learn skills in ML, NLP, and work with state-of-the-art LLM models, building stakeholder relationships, and executive communication. This opportunity will require close collaboration with Content, Data Engineering, Product and other data scientists. 

What You Will Do

  • Build pipelines based on video, audio, text, artwork data and get the data ready for modeling.

  • Fine-tune multi-modal foundational models 

  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure the accuracy and quality of data 

  • Work with cutting-edge LLM models to extract meaningful metadata 

  • Present the methods and outputs effectively using data visualization tools or oral presentations. 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Solid Python programming skills 

  • Exceptional curiosity, and a drive to learn new tools and work with new models 

  • Strong ability to build relationships with teammates, business partners, and technical colleagues.

  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow

  • Hands-on experience with modern LLM APIs and familiarity with AI orchestration tools such as Huggingface, Langchain, Google ADK or similar and MCPs 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Familiarity with fine-tuning techniques like PEFT, LORA

  • Multimodal model experience (e.g., CLIP, ViTs),

  • Big-data or cloud experience   

Education

Currently enrolled as a Graduate level student pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or related field. 

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the requirements below:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

  • The approximate dates of this position are May/June 2026 through August/September 2026

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

  • Fully available from Monday-Friday for the duration of the position, 40 hours per week
