FosterAdopt Connect is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing advocacy and innovative programming to support and empower foster children, their families, and alumni impacted by the child welfare system. Through community partnerships, fundraising initiatives, and special eventsFosterAdopt Connect works to ensure children and families have the resources and support they need to thrive. 

 

Position Overview:  

The Development Intern will work closely with the Director of Corporate Engagement & Special Events to support fundraising, sponsorship development, community engagement, and special event efforts. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit development, donor relations, corporate sponsorship, CRM management, and event planning in a mission-driven environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Development and Fundraising support 
  • Assist with development projects and fundraising initiatives. 
  • Research and identify potential corporate sponsors, donors, and community partners. 
  • Support sponsorship outreach efforts, including cold calling, email follow-ups, and relationship building.  
  • Assist in preparing sponsorship proposals, donor materials, and impact summaries.  

 

Community Engagement: 

  • Support outreach to businesses, community partners, and volunteers. 
  • Assist with community engagement strategies to increase awareness and participation. 
  • Represent FAC professionally in communications and at events as needed. 

 

CRM & Administrative Support: 

  • Assist with maintaining and updating donor, sponsor, and prospect records in the CRM database and the Special Event software (OneCause). 
  • Track sponsorship outreach, contacts, and follow-up activities. 
  • Assist with data entry, reporting, and list management Special Events. 
  • Assist with planning and preparation for fundraising and community events. 
  • Support event logistics, timelines, and materials. 
  • Assist with event-day execution, including setup, registration, and donor stewardship activities.

  • Develop skills in donor relations, sponsorship cultivation, and community engagement. 
  • Build confidence in professional communication, outreach, and relationship-building. 
  • Work closely with senior development leadership in a mission-driven organization. 

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills: 

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed course work in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, public relations, business, or a related field. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Comfortable making phone calls and engaging with community partners. 
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace (CRM experience a plus, but not required).  
  • Passion for nonprofit work and a commitment to FosterAdopt Connect’s mission. 

 

Additional Details:  

  • This is an unpaid internship; academic credit may be arranged if required by the student’s institution. 
  • Flexible scheduling within the 16-20 hours per week range. 
  • Some evening or event-related hours may be required.
