Central Territory Headquarters LI
Compensation: $25.00/hourly, based on experience.
Purpose
The Internship Program provides Salvationist college, preferably music, students and recent graduates with first-hand experience in Salvation Army music and creative arts ministries programming. It also helps The Salvation Army identify, encourage, and develop future local and divisional leaders in music and creative arts.
Learning Opportunities
Field Training
Interns will accompany department staff at divisional music camps and conservatories, as assigned by the Territorial Music & Creative Arts Ministries Secretary (TMCAMS). Interns will also participate in the Central Music Institute (CMI) and the Resonate Worship Arts Conservatory camps.
- Interns 22 years or older will serve on faculty for CMI and Resonate.
- Interns younger than 22 will participate as full-time students and take part in available leadership curriculum.
Administrative Training
To prepare interns for future music and creative arts leadership roles, they will be involved in day-to-day departmental responsibilities such as staff meetings, camp preparation, library maintenance, and other tasks assigned by the Territorial Music & Creative Arts Ministries Secretary.
Requirements
- A Salvation Army soldier or adherent in good standing with an expressed interest in music and creative arts ministries.
- Preferred - Completion of at least one year of full-time college coursework as a music or creative arts major.
- Note: The Territorial Music & Creative Arts Ministries Department may contact the applicant’s divisional leadership to conduct a reference check.
Payment & Time Details
Interns will receive $8,000 in taxable income for the internship. This is a non-exempt (hourly), temporary position.
- Office hours are 8:30 AM–4:30 PM.
- Interns are paid bi-weekly.
- The role requires adherence to scheduled rest periods, including a mandatory lunch break and two paid 15-minute breaks per workday.
- As temporary, non-exempt employees, interns do not receive paid holidays, vacation, or sick time.
- Any time taken off for holidays, vacation, or illness will be unpaid.
Housing
Interns are responsible for securing their own housing during the internship period. The department may provide suggestions but is not responsible for arranging accommodations.
Transportation and Food
The Salvation Army will cover transportation and meals for approved Salvation Army-related activities such as camps and conferences. Interns are responsible for their transportation to and from Territorial Headquarters.
