Summer Internship OR Semester Co-Op

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: Analytical Lab

Term: Spring through Summer

Position Summary

Plug Power Inc. is seeking a highly motivated student to learn and grow their budding scientific career in our Analytical Laboratories. In this role, you will assist with a variety of initiatives and objectives, gaining hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, microscopy, sample preparation and dimensional analysis (metrology) supporting R+D, engineering and manufacturing groups. The student will develop a comprehensive understanding of Plug Power’s products and technologies, while working alongside experienced professionals in the field. This opportunity provides valuable exposure to cutting-edge engineering practices and the chance to contribute to the innovation that drives Plug Power’s success.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, microscopy, sample preparation techniques and metrology.
  • Observe and experience the relationship between product R+D, Engineering and Manufacturing from a “technical crossroads” vantage point.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Requires attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Practical hands-on capability for sample collection/preparation and analysis.
  • Operates and maintains lab instrumentation and sample preparation equipment.
  • Works with senior analytical personnel to learn new and complex analytical techniques.
  • Takes direction from lab management and analytical teams using best practice procedures.
  • Participates in cross functional teams to provide input with respect to analytical characterization of samples.
  • Technical report documentation.

Education and Qualification

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science, or a related program
  • Must have reliable transportation to the office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess solid hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent follow-through 
  • Must be driven and self-motivated

Estimated Base Salary Range:

$21.00 - $25.00
