About the Role
The Buffalo Grove Park District Land Management Natural Area Internship Program provides a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience for students and emerging professionals interested in natural area restoration, natural resources, and ecological management. Interns will gain practical field experience, explore interdepartmental operations, and develop leadership skills through a structured 13-week program. Hours may vary, some which may be scheduled during holidays or weekend periods during special events. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are required to be successful throughout the internship.
Education and Experience:
1. Currently enrolled in or graduated from a degree program in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources, Forestry, or a related field.
2. Interest in ecological restoration, land management, and public park operations.
3. Valid driver’s license required.
4. Obtain Illinois Pesticide Operator Certification within the first two weeks of the internship (testing provided by the Park District).
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: walk, stand, and bend.
2. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
Pay Range:
$17/hr
