About the Role

Hear from Eric and Alexander, Engineering Students, as they share their work term experiences.
 

We are seeking students currently enrolled in an engineering co-op (or internship) degree program, 

available for 4-16 month terms starting January 2026. Only students in work experience programs will be considered.

What will you do?

 

As a self-motivated and valued member of the team, you'll do exciting, challenging work on various projects and initiatives across the City’s departments and branches. You'll learn about public service and build your professional network by working closely with other professionals at the City of Edmonton. 

Roles are based in various locations across Edmonton, Alberta, and responsibilities will depend on your team description.



  • Currently enrolled in a civil, environmental, mechanical, electrical, or chemical or related engineering co-op (or internship) degree program from a post-secondary institution

 

Assets:

  • Experience with related computer software applications (e.g. Google Workspace Applications, AutoCAD, Adobe Reader, Civil 3D, Solidworks, Microsoft Applications, Bluebeam)

  • Experience with project coordination and project management

  • Understanding of engineering drawings and technical documents

  •  

Skills required for success:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative member of a team

  • Committed to building and maintaining relationships with internal and external parties

  • Ability to accurately analyze information

  • Experience working in a dynamic environment and able to adapt to changing priorities

Work Environment:

  • Position ​may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement ​with ​the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite.

  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Up to 25 temporary full-time positions

 

Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 33.75 hours per week or 40 hours per week depending on the business area. Please note - some areas may require working on weekends as well.

 

Salary: 33.75 Hours per week: $31.360 - $36.587 (Hourly)

Salary: 40 Hours per week: $28.773 - $33.565 (Hourly)
