The Position

Department & Team

Roche’s Gene Therapy Technical Development (PTCG) function is responsible for the technical development and clinical production of breakthrough viral vector-based therapies - from early clinical phase through to market approval. Our core mission is the development of safe, innovative, and effective therapies using state-of-the-art technologies across the entire value chain.

By joining us, you will become part of an expert team in Nucleic Acid Sciences and Manufacturing, focused on the development and production of plasmid DNA - a key element and starting material for cell and gene therapies.

Your Tasks & Responsibilities

 

In this role, you will focus on the production, purification, and analysis of plasmid DNA. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Process Development: Contributing to the development and implementation of new clarification and purification techniques. This involves the independent execution of experiments, data interpretation, and thorough documentation

  • Manufacturing Support: Assisting the supply of plasmids for R&D activities across the global Roche network

  • Data Analysis: Interpreting results and presenting your findings to the broader team

 

Your Profile

  • Education: You are currently enrolled in a degree program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related Life Sciences field

  • Technical Skills: You have already gained theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in bioprocess development for E. coli fermentation and/ or purification technologies for biomolecules. Experience in biochemical, molecular, or cell biological analytics is a plus

  • Soft Skills: You are curious, thrive in collaborative environments, and are known for your proactive, team-oriented approach

  • Communication: You possess strong English language skills (both written and spoken)

  • Requirement: Please note that active university enrollment is a mandatory requirement for this internship

This is a standalone internship role; please be aware that completing a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis as part of this position may not be provided for.
