Responsibilities

  • With the imminent arrival of quantum computers, existing asymmetric algorithms such as RSA and ECC are expected to become vulnerable by 2035 according to SME. PAC needs to prepare for a transition from classical cryptography to Post-Quantum Cryptography within the next few years
  • The Product Security team would like an intern to help review/study the implementation of Quantum-Resistant Security Protocols in our IFEC products, which will consist of the following:
    1. Build an inventory of cryptographic assets (e.g., keys, certificates, and algorithms) and identify where it is used.
    2. Research of existing NIST approved PQC algorithms (FIPS 203, 204 and 205 published in 2024)
    3. Create a PoC of generating, and verifying certificate using hybrid algorithms with TLS 1.3
  • The intern will be given a chance to participate once in a lifetime transition from classical cryptography to Post-Quantum Cryptography. They will learn about classic cryptography and how it is used in X509 certificates, and also study the new FIPS from NIST about post-quantum cryptography (https://csrc.nist.gov/projects/post-quantum-cryptography)

Qualifications

  • Graduate student with a BS is preferred, but undergraduate in final year could work too. They need to be familiar with Computer Science and have a basic understanding of cryptography (RSA, ECC, TLS), as well as basic knowledge in coding (bash, python, c, golang)

    • Must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at an accredited four-year college or university
    • Preferred Experience with MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
