About the Role
<p><strong>Lab Summary:</strong></p> <p>As part of Mobile Platform Services (MPS) within Samsung Research America, you will join the Advanced Research Team focused on cutting-edge computer vision, machine learning, and AI-driven XR (AR, MR, VR) technologies. Our mission is to build the next generation of head-mounted displays, spanning both commercial products and forward-looking research that will shape Samsung’s technology roadmap over the coming years.</p> <p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p> <p>The Computer Vision &amp; Machine Learning Intern will contribute to research and development of on-device image transformation, image denoising, image quality enhancement, and machine learning technologies across Samsung platforms. This role bridges research and product development, emphasizing the creation of innovative, efficient, and production-ready solutions for AR/VR systems.</p> <p>The position places particular emphasis on image transformation, denoising, and visual quality enhancement using computer vision and machine learning algorithms optimized for mobile and embedded devices.</p> <p><strong>Position Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Research and develop computer vision and machine learning algorithms for image transformation, denoising, and quality enhancement.</li> <li>Optimize and deploy GPU-accelerated ML pipelines on mobile and Android platforms.</li> <li>Prototype, evaluate, and refine algorithms for both research exploration and product integration.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to transition concepts into reliable, production-level solutions.</li> <li>Contribute to XR-related technologies including AR/VR imaging and perception pipelines.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related field.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with image denoising and image quality enhancement techniques.</li> <li>Experience with GPU processing on Android platforms.</li> <li>Strong understanding of deep learning algorithms, including model tuning and optimization using GPU libraries.</li> <li>Familiarity with key CV/ML areas such as: <ul> <li>Image visual quality and readability enhancement</li> <li>Camera tracking and calibration</li> <li>Camera geometry and image transformation</li> <li>Machine learning modeling and optimization</li> </ul> </li> <li>Solid foundation in software engineering principles and tools.</li> <li>Proficiency in C/C++ and at least one prototyping language such as Python.</li> <li>Strong collaboration, communication, self-motivation, and learning skills.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Special Attributes:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with AR glasses, AR/VR headsets, or XR development platforms.</li> <li>Exposure to real-time or resource-constrained ML systems on mobile or embedded hardware.</li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description">Our total rewards programs are designed to motivate and engage exceptional talent.
