If this sounds like the choice you want to make, then choose MITRE - and make a difference with us.<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><h3></h3><p></p><p>The Data Science Department in the AI Innovation Center harnesses the power of data to drive innovation, ensure actionable insights, and deliver transformative AI solutions.</p><p></p><p>Job Responsibilities</p><p>As an intern working in data science, operations research, math or statistics, you will work alongside a team of experts to apply your knowledge and gain hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:</p><ul><li><p><span>Apply a variety of data science techniques to tackle customer challenges to include machine learning, generative AI, natural language processing, computer vision, reinforcement learning, statistical modeling, mathematical optimization, and data visualization.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Apply data science rigor throughout the machine learning lifecycle to ensure reproducibility and trustworthiness.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Develop, test and evaluate, and demonstrate data science and machine learning solutions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Build and test prototypes in on-premises (e.g. VMWare, Linux-based platforms) and commercial cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).</span></p></li><li><p><span>Apply state of the art techniques using programming languages and development environments to drive advances in mission capabilities for MITRE sponsors.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p>Basic Qualifications</p><ul><li>Must be a full-time student pursuing an accredited degree program in Data Science, Math, Statistics, Operations Research or related disciplines.</li><li>Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship.</li><li>Must have sustained excellence in academic performance.</li><li><span>Python programming experience required.</span></li></ul><p></p><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li>Experience applying data science, math, statistics or operations research concepts in an internship, research, or lab setting.</li><li>Proficiency using data science, math, statistics or operations research methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.</li><li>Demonstrated interest in serving the public through previous work experience, volunteer activities, or other relevant engagements.</li><li><span>Pursuit of masters in data science, computer science, AI, or related field.</span></li></ul><p></p><p>Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance.  This is determined by the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship.  Other jobs may require vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned.</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b>This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):</b></p>None<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b>This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):</b></p>None<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b>Salary compensation range and midpoint:</b></p>$46,500 - $58,000 - $69,500 Annual<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b>Work Location Type:</b></p>Hybrid<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left">It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
