About the Position 

As a Solar Electrical Engineering Intern in the Solar group, you will assist in the design of utility-scale solar projects nationwide. You will be part of an integrated design team, coordinating with team members to meet project schedules and deliverables on time and within the defined budget. 

Hourly Rate: $27.00/hour 

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.  

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Assists in the detailed design of all aspects of Photovoltaic (PV) Electrical Power Systems, including string sizing, array layouts, tracker power and communication, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, Balance of System/Plant equipment details, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, equipment specifications, and project schedules. 

  • Collaborates with engineers to prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility-scale PV power plants, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, collection system grounding, harmonic analysis, and other related studies. 

  • Research applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practices. 

  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines. 

  • Other job-related responsibilities as assigned. 

Must Have 

  • Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred. 

  • Experience: Relevant coursework or project experience in engineering. 

  • Basic understanding of electrical engineering. 

  • Experience with PVsyst or other PV-specific software is a plus. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills. 

  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision-maker comfortable in a fast-paced design environment. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills. 

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Work Environment: 

Work is performed in an office setting. 

 

Travel: 

Minimal: 0 – 5% 

 

Physical Activities: 

Must be able to lift 25lbs.
