The Summer Student, Regulatory supports our Regulatory team in managing the high volume of regulatory proceedings and initiatives we’re involved in. You’ll assist on complex regulatory cases as they progress (performing research and helping prepare evidence and filings), work on cross-department projects aimed at improving regulatory processes, and by the end of the term take the lead (with guidance) on a small routine regulatory filing. This role provides you with dedicated mentorship, integration into team meetings, and a chance to develop skills in strategy, analysis, and stakeholder engagement while learning how a regulated utility operates.

This position is part of ENMAX’s 16-week Summer Student Program (2026). ENMAX invests in future talent by providing real project experience and mentorship. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a relevant post-secondary program and returning to school after the summer term.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing regulatory applications and filings by researching background information, compiling data, and drafting sections of documents under senior guidance

  • Work on cross-organizational initiatives to improve regulatory efficiency (e.g., helping document new workflows or tools to streamline regulatory compliance across departments)

  • Support the regulatory team’s internal needs by preparing presentation slides, briefing notes, or reports for senior management and executives, and updating departmental tracking sheets and performance metrics

  • Conduct research and analysis on regulatory topics or precedent cases to inform ENMAX’s position on issues and support decision-making in strategy discussions

Education Required: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Finance, Law, or another relevant field, and returning to full-time studies following the work term.

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear documents and explain complex information

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a structured way

  • Solid research and analytical abilities, comfortable evaluating regulations, policies, and quantitative data

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for document preparation and data analysis

  • An interest in the energy industry and how it is regulated (familiarity with regulatory concepts or legal writing is an asset)

Salary: Administrator Level B Step 1 – $24.82 / hour based on current CUPE Collective Agreement rates

Location: This role is part of our hybrid work model, with office workspace at ENMAX Place (141 – 50 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays, and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
