Landis+Gyr is seeking a Tools Software Development Intern for Summer 2026 to work on-site fulltime hours Monday through Friday at our Lafayette, IN location. This is a paid internship but we don't provide housing assistance or relocation so will be considering local applicants.
Project Overview/Job Description:
Opportunity for a Software Development candidate to learn and use real world development skills and receive an introduction into the energy domain. The candidate will use multiple technologies including C#, Java, Angular, Visual Studio, GitLab, and related technologies to help create proof-of-concept applications for web-based reading and reporting of electrical meter data.
Student Objectives/Responsibilities:
• Create and enhance code under the guidance of an experienced team.
• Write and enhance unit tests for test driven development.
• Perform functional tests with the resulting applications with electrical meters.
• Analyze and fix defects discovered in testing.
• Work with Docker containers and yaml pipeline scripts to create or maintain CI/CD builds in GitLab.
• Collaborate with the team to log, track, and update defects in Azure DevOps (ADO), ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
• Contribute from the experience gained to inform future development paths for Landis+Gyr software.
Qualifications:
• Interest in Software development
• Self-motivated to learn new technology.
• Enthusiastic about online research and problem solving.
• Education or experience in at least one of Java or .Net C# development.
• Willingness to work on real-world automation projects in the energy domain
• Strong problem-solving and online research skills
Education:
Applicants must be undergraduate students currently in their Sophomore or Junior year working on their Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Graduates and Masters level students will not be considered.
