About the Opportunity:

The KPO Intern role is a temporary role for students pursuing an education in continuous improvement / manufacturing engineering.  This role will learn while working on real-life projects, also providing administrative support.

Location: Manchester, CT
This position is 100% on site. 

Responsibilities:

Under Direct Supervision: 

  • Interfaces with all functional departments and handle Continuous Improvement requests 
  • Undertakes independent projects as needed in support of department
  • Supports Supervisors, Team Leaders and Associates in the application of the Lean principles
  • Assists in the creation of Work Instructions, Daily Management, 6 Sigma and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Documents
  • Assists in designs and fabricates equipment from Creform Tubing and other materials
  • Assists in the completion of Kaizen Newspaper Action Items
  • Participates in and supports Kaizen Event
  • Participate in manufacturing engineering projects
  • Learn manufacturing processes
  • Assist with changing/updating manufacturing engineering documents 
  • Assist with time studies
  • Provides administrative support  
  • May interact with other departments

Required Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years machinist experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

  • Hands On, Detail Oriented.
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to complete multiple improvement projects within a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demands to meet deadlines
  • Able to effectively work with all levels of employees throughout the organization
  • Maintains company values and holds self and others to the highest standards of conduct
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience

 Physical Demands:

  • Light to moderate physical effort required
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds 
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach and move about the facility

Physical Requirements: 

  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment. 
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
