JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Design Intern will work with Project Managers and Senior Project Designers to gain knowledge of wood frame construction, accessibility and building codes while working in a close team setting with growth opportunities. This ability includes drawing rough and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings, and structures, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations and specification to construction documents. This individual will work alongside the primary person in charge of preparation of construction documents for projects.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviewing construction documents and coordination with consultants. 
  • Learn to establish and maintain project schedules and to effectively communicate with team members and consultants. 
  • Must be able to apply sketches and lay outs with completeness to construction drawings and assure compliance to the standard drafting procedures.
  • Prepare presentation documents for with Project Manager 
  • Ability to organize workflow, set priorities, effectively manage one’s own time and able to solve practical problems. Arrives to work on time and is willing to take on extra work when circumstances arise. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with employees, clients and consultants using verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Shares information and ideas with others and has good listening skills. 
  • Provide assistance to Project Designers and Project Managers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and minimum of working towards bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in architecture. CAD and Revit technical skills are required. 
  • Ability to organize and lay out work to be generated on computer or by manual drawing. 
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD functions or Revit drafting application program. Understands and follows company standards for maximizing productivity and maintaining consistency. 
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop, Excel, SketchUp and ComCheck software.  
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications. 
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions orally or in written form. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others. 
  • Performs a variety of field assignments including taking measurements and conducting site observations with instruction from a Project Manager. 
  • Basic knowledge of multi-family and hospitality building functions. 
  • Strong time management skills & ability to prioritize/multitask.
