About the Role

Description

After a decade of delivering design solutions, LVCK became a Beyer Blinder Belle Studio in 2023. LVCK operates out of BBB’s New York office, has integrated with BBB’s interdisciplinary design practice, and continues serving our clients. Since its inception, LVCK’s work has been built on a dual foundation of a strong social mission and creative engagement. LVCK’s areas of specialization include Cultural, Civic, Education, and Historic Preservation.  Led by Chris King and Laura Varacchi, the 10-person studio is a mix of signage and marketing designers developing design solutions for private clients, government agencies, and non-profits. Beyer Blinder Belle is a company of 170 professionals in New York City, Boston, Miami, and Washington, DC, engaged in architecture, planning, interiors, and environmental graphic design.

A graphic design intern will work solely with the LVCK team, while being exposed to the 130+ person NY Office and company-wide educational sessions and collaborations. Our work runs the gamut of 2D and 3D applications, including signage, wayfinding, and environmental graphic design projects as well as print and digital design to support our existing clients. Current projects span healthcare, museums & gardens, NY State Parks historic preservation, New York Metro region libraries, Florida cultural centers, and Ivy League campuses.

The Intern Graphic Designer will work alongside LVCK Senior Designers and the Senior Project Manager, while also having design reviews with LVCK principals. Interns are expected to learn – by doing – the range of tasks that are entailed in environmental graphic design, from concepting to design development to physical mock-ups. You will be asked to: handle a variety of projects and deadlines; sketch, write, document, and discuss work with colleagues, hear first-hand from clients; and are encouraged to participate in the extracurricular life of the firm.

Applicants should possess a range of aptitudes and interests: ability to think and express oneself graphically, spatially, and verbally; curiosity for the built environment, wayfinding and navigation, and information design; passion for graphic design and branding; ability to think strategically; and an interest in materials and processes. Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite software (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) is essential. Experience with 3D modeling is a plus, as is experience with motion/animation.

The salary is commensurate with experience and ability ranging between $18 and $24 per hour. Qualified and interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and portfolio.

As an equal-opportunity employer, Beyer Blinder Belle is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce.
