Schedule:
Full time: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Marketing Communications Intern, with a focus in Social Media and Competitive Analysis to join our growing marketing team. This unique role is split into two core pillars: creative content execution and strategic market research.

On the creative side, you will be our "boots on the ground," and work with our team to establish direction and to implement their materials in conjunction/continuation of the digital marketing while capturing and producing engaging social media content with a primary focus on Instagram. On the analytical side, you will act as a junior market researcher, independently conducting deep-dive assessments of competitor products versus LECO’s offerings to identify market gaps. This role is hands-on and execution-focused; you will work independently with guidance, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and take initiative to move projects forward without needing step-by-step direction.

Position Responsibilities:

Social Media & Content Creation

  • Capture & Produce: Filming short-form video (Reels/Stories) and taking high-quality photos that showcase our lab instruments and company culture.
    • Edit & Format: Independently producing polished social content, ensuring it meets brand guidelines and platform trends.
    • Asset Management: Organizing and tagging digital content to maintain a high-functioning marketing library for future use.
    • Identify Opportunities: Proactively spotting "in-the-moment" content opportunities within our facility without being prompted.

Competitive Insights & Product Analysis

  • Product Assessments: Conducting independent research to draft side-by-side comparisons of competitor instruments versus LECO products.
  • Gap Analysis: Identifying and documenting specific areas where competitors lead or lag, helping our team understand market opportunities.
  • Strategic Reporting: Summarizing complex competitive findings into clear, simple formats (such as "battlecards" or "cheat sheets") for the sales and marketing teams.

Team Collaboration & Support

  • Cross-functional Outreach: Collaborating with product experts and other internal teams to gather technical data for content or research.
  • General Marketing Support: Assisting with additional digital and traditional marketing activities as assigned.

What Success Looks Like

  • You move work forward on your own and ask questions when needed
  • You balance independent work with effective teamwork
  • You spot content opportunities without being prompted
  • You follow brand guidelines and respect internal processes
  • You communicate clearly and meet deadlines

Position Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Graphic Design, or a related field
  • Strong interest in social media and digital marketing, especially Instagram
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation (photo, video, or graphics)
  • Exposure to digital marketing concepts such as social media, email marketing, or analytics through coursework, projects, or internships
  • Comfortable learning and using basic analytics or reporting tools with guidance
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaborate with teams
