About the Role

The Membership Intern will assist the Membership team with day-to-day operations that focus on driving member retention, enhancing member satisfaction, and delivering exceptional membership experience.  The Intern will be hands-on, with meaningful work experience to build on research, writing, database management, and external relations skills. The Intern will learn to build collaborative relationships with co-workers, AGA member companies, and participate with multi-disciplinary teams across the association.

What you will do:

  • Support routine research projects, including membership staffing updates and membership briefings for the Leadership Team.
  • Collect, audit, edit, and upload membership data into the Association’s database.
  • Support the development and editing process for membership collateral and materials. 
  • Attend AGA webinars and report to membership team with recaps. 
  • Assist with distribution of American Gas articles to member contacts. 
  • Partner with Managing Director of Membership on development and execution of the Distinguished Service Award and Natural Gas Industry Leadership Award programs.   
  • Assist Managing Director of Membership in the development of meeting materials for the fall Small Member Council meeting. 
  • Complete special projects as needed.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office product suite 
  • Juniors and seniors enrolled in an accredited college or university.

How we operate:

This role is based in Washington, DC where AGA employees currently have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely. The employee’s team determines one day each week, and the employee determines the others. 

The Pay and Benefits:

For employees who live in the Washington, DC Metro area, the salary for this position is $20.00 per hour. Internships are not eligible for AGA healthcare benefits.

The American Gas Association requires all offered candidates to pass a background check and sign an arbitration agreement as conditions of employment.
