About the Role

About Tuesday

Tuesday Lab builds delightful robots. We are driven by a desire to make everyday life easier and more fun through cutting-edge robotics. If you love watching videos of robots helping out around the house and want to contribute to making those videos a reality in our everyday lives, you should come work at the Lab.

We are engineers, researchers, and builders who love living among our creations. Our mission is to make the magical world of animated objects accessible to everyone.

Student Data Collection Internship (Part Time)

We are seeking a talented undergraduate student to help us bring our robots to life. Over the course of this 10-week internship, this student will be responsible for helping us collect data to train Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models to perform common household chores.

This is a hands-on role for a motivated person who loves robots and wants to see their work pay off in an amazing robot policy.

This is a great role for CS undergrads who are looking to find real world robotics experience to supplement their course load. This is a part-time role with flexible work hours – we expect this role will be suitable for students taking a full course load.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with data collection, running and debugging software and operating our robot as it performs various delightful tasks around the office

  • Validate data quality, ensuring the robot completes its tasks smoothly, skillfully, and with a variety of approaches

  • Collaborate with the policy training team, adjusting task strategy and example distribution as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Academic status: currently enrolled in an undergraduate (bachelor’s) or graduate-level (MS or PhD) computer science or robotics degree program in New York City.

  • Python programming: you should be able to write basic algorithms and run scripts.

  • A portfolio of projects (e.g., a GitHub account) demonstrating some prior coding experience.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with robotics – a high school or college robotics team, for example

  • Knowledge of the Robot Operating System

About You:

  • Robot Obsession: You love robots, and you’re looking for robotics work outside of school to advance your robotics experience.

  • Product Focus: You believe in home robotics and will do whatever it takes to make the robot's behaviors reliable and delightful for our customers.

If you don’t have these qualifications, but you really want to do this job, you should apply for it anyway. This is a startup: passion and work ethic count for a lot.

What Tuesday Offers:

  • The opportunity to play a critical role in developing the future of home robotics. You will be assisting with an important step in the development of our robot. Your successful data collection effort will make the difference between a delightful companion and a dysfunctional boondoggle.

  • Work alongside people with deep expertise who love playful applications and are excited about building the future.

  • Freedom to rapidly iterate, contribute to the technical progress of the company, and contribute data collection that directly leads to important developments in robotics.
