Your Responsibilities
You will work as intern in investment analysis within the investment office department. The team has in scope investments on the balance sheet (govies, corporate bonds, derivatives, etc.), cash management, and fund selection/analysis for unit-linked (Branch 23) products.
For the latter, Athora find the best funds available on the market for its clients by working with the most well-known fund and largest managers such as Blackrock, Fidelity, Nordea, etc.
Depending on the needs, you will support daily operations and/or be assigned a specific project, which can be related for example to the following (non-exhaustive):
Update cash balances, reconciliate daily cash positions
Initiate trades for the balance sheet (bonds, forwards, futures, IRS, CCS, swaptions, etc.) within the investment framework and pre-defined limits (dv01, cs01, etc.). Follow-up with trade execution and verify the pricing obtained.
Review processes, optimize reporting and automate recurring tasks to improve efficiency
Review and optimize the existing performance analysis framework for external fund managers selection (funds are composed of equities, bonds, and eventual derivatives products).
Perform investment analysis/Fund selection based on quantitative (risk/return, beta, max drawdown, sharpe ratio, etc.) and qualitative analysis (team, process, style: such as growth vs value, etc.)
Use Morningstar Direct and Bloomberg to automate/optimize the fund analysis process
Present your analysis to your manager in a clear and summarized way
Support B23 operational matters
Perform other ad-hoc tasks to help the team deal with workload (such as KYC review or other administrative tasks), and work on automating those tasks.
Your profile
You are enrolled at university, preferably in a Master degree (or post-Master degree) in an economic field with major in finance/investments or quantitative field (math, engineer or actuary).
You have strong interest in financial markets: investments, funds, portfolio management.
Excellent working knowledge of Excel is essential.
Knowledge in VBA is mandatory.
Knowledge of Bloomberg/Morningstar is a strong plus.
Good communication skills and able to summarize your findings in a simple and comprehensible manner.
Pro-active and able to work autonomously on a project.
Fluency in English is mandatory. French and Dutch is a plus.

We only accept contracted internships, which means internship that are part of an education. No exceptions are allowed.
The internship is non-remunerated.
The internship should last for at least four months.
