Are you looking for a fun summer job where you can make a difference? Co-Op Summer Enrichment is an award winning summer camp for low income children that delivers STEM learning and camp fun.
What you'll be doing
You’re joining a summer camp team where roles and tasks are collaborative and shared. As a Maker Intern you’ll be assisting a professional educator in one or more of our STEM major learning periods helping to teach and prepare materials for a group of 12-15 diverse campers ensuring safety, providing guidance, STEM based learning and most importantly, fun.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with lead educator to design and implement a project-based learning experience in making for children as part of a STEM program that emphasizes hands-on projects focused on creativity, design and innovation
- Infuse the program with an emphasis on helping children use new tools with the highest standards of safety; tools may include: drills, sewing machines, woodworking tools, and saws
- Assist with adapting materials and projects to meet the needs of different age groups for grades 1 through 5
- Follow weekly group schedule, ensuring on time arrival to all activities and programming
- Assist campers while participating in STEM learning blocks led by Educators
- Serve as a role model for campers and other staff by:
- Arriving on time, fully ready to participate
- Working as a collaborative team member with other counselors, assistant counselors and staff
- Taking joy in learning new things with the children
- Supporting a drug free, screen free, healthy environment
- Attend all orientation week training sessions
- Enforce the highest level of safety at all times, adhering to camp policies and procedures
Requirements

Requirements
- Maker Interns must be at least 18 years old by the start of the program
- Previous employment experience
- Previous experience working with youth such as babysitting or coaching; high preference given to those with experience working with youth in a group recreational setting such as camp, youth group or after school programs
- High preference given to those with experience working with tools and teaching how to work with tools
- Availability to work the entire camp season and attend all required orientations and trainings
Besides that you might:
- Have a desire to make a difference in the lives of kids
- Be Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Want to know what Color Wars is and are already strategizing to win the annual trophy
All employees must:
- Possess a valid social security card and NYS state identification
- Take a background check with fingerprint approval if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee (we will provide instructions as part of the onboarding process)
- Provide two references only one can be a personal (non-family) reference
REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES:
- Camp-season:
- June 29, 2026 to August 7, 2026 (No camp Friday, July 3rd)
- 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Regular camp days
- 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Regular camp days with weekly staff meeting
*all program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st
