About the Role

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Traffic Engineering Intern in our Denver, CO office. 

 

The Traffic Engineering Intern will be mentored by and collaborate with top Engineering associates on our team. The position involves participating in the development of traffic operations analysis, reports and studies for a variety of project types. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of Traffic Engineering and Transportation Engineering.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and provide data for the preparation of engineering reports and studies
  • Perform traffic volume development calculations in Excel
  • Assist in preparation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) planning and design
  • Assist in preparation of traffic control construction phasing, signing and markings plans, signal design, and lighting design
  • Assist in the development of traffic operations analysis models and reports
  • May sometimes need to assist with field work
  • Other entry level engineering duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Program at an ABET accredited university
  • Interest and/or prior experience in the field of transportation/traffic engineering
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision as well as within a collaborative team environment
  • Willingness to work with different teams to meet project deadlines
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2.5 GPA or above
  • Prior internship or related experience
  • Coursework that includes Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, and/or Traffic Engineering
  • Experience with traffic analysis tools (HCS, Synchro, and Sidra) and traffic simulation modeling (TransModeler and VISSIM)
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, ArcGIS, MicroStation

The pay rate for this position in Colorado ranges from $24.00 to $27.00 per hour.  However, the selected individual’s compensation will be determined based on their specific education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
