About the Role

DesignAgency is an international studio specializing in interior design, architectural concepting, strategic branding, and visual communications. DesignAgency depends on Interns to carry out elements of projects; generally under the supervision of Senior Designers or Project Designers. Interns collaborate with others to produce excellent drawings, details and documentation. They consult with their teams to solve design, technical, production, scope or client issues of which they become aware. The firm relies on them to develop excellent working relationships with their colleagues in the studio. 

Interns report to Senior Designers, Project Designers, or others as assigned. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

To be considered, an Intern should demonstrate exceptional skills in the following areas: 

Design 

  • Clear ability to carry out components of projects under supervision and direction of design teams 
  • Imaginative, consistent and engaged 
  • Demonstrate real curiosity about design trends, issues, materials and products 
  • Participation in the design dialogue 
  • Show continued increase in quality in their drawings and documentation, and client service 
  • Conceive and design smaller elements of projects, as directed 
  • Develop high-quality drawings, details and documentation that are clear, accurate, comprehensive, and consistent 
  • Assist in the creation of visualizations, samples, demonstration boards and models
  • Assist in product and materials research 
  • Produce and maintain high quality minutes, memos, and orders 
  • Learn and apply building regulations and codes 
  • Learn and apply tendering and contracting processes and standards 
  • Learn and apply construction technique and materials characteristics 
  • Strive to reduce rework, errors, and omissions 

Leadership

  • Proactively share design knowledge with other team members 
  • Create sound relationships with colleagues and positively contribute to studio culture

Management 

  • Demonstrate excellent personal time management 

Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program for Interior Design, Architecture, or equivalent
  • Educational and/or work experience using AutoCAD and Revit (SketchUp, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign are beneficial). 

These are the minimal requirements for this position, with all other experience being advantages for the successful candidate.
