Your Opportunity

As a GIS Intern within the Environmental Business Operating Unit at Stantec Consulting Services Inc., you will use geographic information system (GIS) technology to support a variety of environmental and engineering projects. Your work will include processing field‑collected data and creating mapping products that contribute to project deliverables. You will work under the guidance of Jeremy Del Prete, Geospatial Team Leader, and other members of the Geospatial team, who will provide mentorship and ensure you gain meaningful, hands-on experience. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to build technical proficiency and apply GIS skills in real-world project scenarios.

This is a paid internship with full or part-time hours during the Summer of 2026. This is an office position; limited remote work is anticipated.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Process and analyze GIS data collected from field surveys
  • Create, update, and maintain digital maps using GIS software
  • Create online map products for field use and/or desktop use
  • Collaborate with team members to support various GIS-related tasks
  • Conduct research and gather spatial data from internal and external sources
  • Potential opportunities to participate in field work
  • Other duties as assigned to help develop additional technical skills

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
