Project description
In the sawing department, the cutting and drilling machines process raw materials into semi-finished products that will be used for to the production of seal components in the shop.

The sawing area has many different types of raw materials in various diameters in the storage racks. In order to be more efficient and to reduce the inventory cost, Flowserve wants to standardize the diameters of the supplied raw materials into a smaller assortment.
During this assignment, you will be responsible for mapping the current diameter variations and the physical flow within the sawing department. You will collect and analyze data on the usage of the current material diameters, production costs, and production steps. Finally you will develop a proposal for standardization of the diameters and optimization of the production of the semi-finished products. For this assignment you will work closely with the production and shop planning departments to develop and implement the improvement proposal.
