About the Role

Winthrop is a dedicated Data Centre Construction company providing turnkey solutions to our clients, headquartered in Dublin and delivering throughout Europe. Winthrop specialises in providing Turnkey Data Centre Solutions, providing services from design, through to construction across the full range of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services as well as commissioning.

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Quantity Surveying Intern to support our commercial and project teams in the successful delivery of construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or early‑career professional to gain hands‑on experience in cost management, measurement, procurement, and contract administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities (BOQs).
  • Support the measurement and valuation of works on-site and from drawings.
  • Help review and analyse subcontractor quotations and tender documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of interim valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
  • Support cost reporting, cash flow forecasts, and project financial tracking.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for project audits and compliance.
  • Assist with contract administration tasks, including variations, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information, verify progress, and support cost control activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site teams, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Provide general administrative and commercial support to the QS team.

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Good understanding of construction processes (coursework or prior experience beneficial).
  • Proficient in MS Excel; familiarity with QS software (e.g., CostX, Cubit, Bluebeam) is an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn, proactive attitude, and interest in developing a career in quantity surveying.
