2026 - Environmental Intern

Winthrop is a dedicated Data Centre Construction company providing turnkey solutions to our clients, headquartered in Dublin and delivering throughout Europe. Winthrop specialises in providing Turnkey Data Centre Solutions, providing services from design, through to construction across the full range of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services as well as commissioning.

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Environmental Intern to join our Environmental and EHS team. This role provides hands‑on experience supporting environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and environmental monitoring activities within a fast‑paced construction and engineering environment. It is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate who is passionate about environmental protection, resource management, and sustainable project delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily environmental monitoring on-site (waste tracking, emissions, water usage, energy logs, etc.).
• Support compliance checks and help maintain environmental documentation and reports.
• Participate in environmental audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives, including recycling programs and resource‑efficiency projects.
• Assist with environmental risk assessments and method statement reviews.
• Help coordinate environmental training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
• Work collaboratively with EHS, construction, and design teams to ensure environmental best practices are followed.
• Provide administrative support to the Environmental and EHS teams as required.

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in environmental protection, sustainability, and compliance.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to work on-site in a dynamic construction environment.
