About the Role

NC Member Service Representative Summer Intern  

Corning Credit Union is currently seeking eager and talented individuals to join the organization for paid summer internships.

The internship is open to candidates currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, data analytics, or mathematics. However, other majors will also be considered.  CCU will work with colleges to ensure your experience meets program requirements and focuses on technical and interpersonal skill development. 

Role Summary: As a Member Service Representative Summer Intern, you will build member relationships through quality service experiences, answer member questions in a knowledgeable, professional manner, and perform a variety of cash handling transactions.  

Essential Job Duties

  • Maintain appropriate knowledge of core systems and CCU’s products and services
  • Present and explain beneficial products to members and assist in meeting their financial needs
  • Utilize solid cash handling skills and procedural knowledge to effectively perform a variety of paying and receiving functions
  • Answer questions and resolve problems for members by leveraging effective listening and quality service skills
  • Perform file maintenance and account changes
  • Balance daily transactions, verify cash totals, and investigate and resolve out-of-balance conditions
  • Also assumes responsibility for other projects or duties as required or assigned

Required Competencies

  • Strong communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Confidence in promoting appropriate products and services
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment
  • Technical aptitude and experience with Microsoft programs
  • Basic math skills
  • Flexibility to work in any of our Chemung and Steuben County branches is required

 

Education Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, data analytics, or mathematics. However, other majors will also be considered

  • The ability to read and comprehend moderate to advanced instructions and correspondence 
  • The ability to write moderate to advanced correspondence within professional etiquette standards
  • The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
