Join ENMAX Power Corporation as an Summer Student, Operations Planning, supporting Protection & Controls and Distribution Automation. In this role, you’ll work alongside technical engineers to analyze grid reliability, review simulation data, and contribute to automation strategies that protect utility assets and reduce outages. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges and gain exposure to advanced analytics and system modeling.

Major Responsibilities

  • Review and update transmission and distribution system models, including impedances, loading, and relay settings

  • Perform reliability analysis using SAIDI, SAIFI, and CAIDI metrics

  • Create templates for technical data requirements and maintain databases

  • Conduct forecasting and clustering on operational datasets (customer meters, feeder loading)

  • Prepare and visualize operational data using tools such as Fabric, Databricks and Power BI

  • Work and collaborate with control center operators and real time staff

Education Required
 Currently enrolled in a Degree or Diploma program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline and returning to full-time studies in the fall.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Interest in programming (Python, SQL, DAX) and data visualization tools (Power BI)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Background in power system knowledge and fundamentals would be preferential

Salary: Administrator Level B, Step 1 – $24.82 / hour based on current CUPE Collective Agreement rates

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
