The Process Engineer Intern will support PURIS’s Engineering and Operations teams in improving the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of our plant-based protein manufacturing processes. You’ll gain hands-on experience in process optimization, data analysis, and project execution — all while learning how engineering decisions drive innovation and sustainability in modern food production.


Pay Rate/Range: $20.00

Pay Frequency: Biweekly

Work Location: Dawson, MN – Fully In Office

Time Period: Summer 2026

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and improving manufacturing processes to enhance quality, yield, and energy efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze process data to identify performance trends and recommend improvements.
  • Support process validation, equipment trials, and scale-up activities for new ingredients or product lines.
  • Partner with maintenance and reliability teams to document standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, R&D, Operations) to ensure process changes align with PURIS’s sustainability and food safety goals.

How You’ll Grow

  • Gain practical, hands-on experience in process engineering within a fast-growing plant-based manufacturing company.
  • Learn how to apply engineering principles to improve safety, efficiency, and environmental performance.
  • Work directly with experienced engineers who will mentor you in process design, optimization, and project management.
  • Develop a systems-level understanding of how food ingredients move from raw material to final product.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of process flow diagrams, instrumentation, and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement concepts is a plus.
  • Interest in sustainable food manufacturing and the agricultural technology sector.
