About the Role

Job Description Summary

The position is open to talented NYC public high school students interested in pursuing careers in areas including but not limited to business, architecture, construction management, engineering, and/or public administration. Interns will be placed with a SCA department or with one of the SCA's business partner companies located throughout New York City. Students work for six weeks, spending four days with their intern host and the remaining day attending educational programming. The standard hours for the program are 9:00 am-4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Assignments vary and may include maintaining files, organizing documents, managing spreadsheets, conducting Internet research, attending client/staff meetings, drafting for students with AutoCAD/Revit proficiency, and may include one or more construction site visits.

Minimum Qualifications

New York City public high school students that are eligible to work in the United States and are available to work for the program's six-week duration. School G.P.A. will be considered. To apply to SIP, applicants are required to submit the SIP online application, along with a current resume, complete official transcript and the SIP Recommendation Form completed by a teacher or school counselor. Students may send, or ask their school counselor to send, a copy of their transcript to SIP by email to SCAINTERNSHIPS@nycsca.org. The SIP Recommendation form is available on the SCA website at www.nycsca.org (Click Careers -Internship Program - Summer Internship Program). Applicants who receive a conditional offer of employment must be able to provide original unexpired I-9 documentation to show their identity and employment authorization to work in the United States, as well as age-appropriate working papers (for those born after July 6 2008.

Education

NYC public high school students in good academic standing. GPA will be considered.

While prior work experience is preferred, work experience is not mandatory.
