SMBC first opened its doors for business in Singapore in 1963. Job Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will be embedded within one of our Global Markets teams, which may include:
• Sales – working with clients on market ideas and solutions
• Trading – supporting desk activities in dynamic market environments
• Research / Product Development – analysing markets, products, and trends
• Asset & Liability Management (ALM) – helping manage balance sheet risks and funding

Throughout the internship, you will be entrusted with significant, on the job responsibilities, allowing you to apply your academic knowledge to real market situations, build technical skills, and develop a strong understanding of how a global financial institution operates.

Job Requirements:

  • Open to all students. However, those with backgrounds in Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields may find the role particularly aligned with their studies. 
  • A genuine interest in global markets, emerging trends, and international business strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presenting ideas clearly.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and eager to learn from diverse perspectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
