JOB TITLE:                   SOFTWARE ENGINEERING INTERN  

DEPARTMENT:           SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

REPORTS TO:             SOFTWARE ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR

CLASSIFICATION:       NON-EXEMPT 

 

Primary Function: 

At Platform Aerospace, our Software Engineering intern is responsible for development, testing, and documentation of software/Firmware for integration and automation of flight systems.  

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Develop software/firmware for payloads, hands on algorithm implementation on actual hardware
  • Conduct bench and airplane testing during development and software releases
  • Assists the engineering department with analysis, tests, software development, integration, and quality assurance of systems
  • Perform proper work documentation, test plans, and results
  • Obtain experience using git and Atlassian toolchain 
  • Perform other duties as are necessary and/or required

Requirements: 

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science and/or B.A/B.S. Electrical Engineering, Aero, Mechanical Engineering. Other similar degrees will be considered upon satisfactory skills in software development and programming skills  
  • Knowledge and experience of at least one coding language (C#, C/C++, Python, etc.)
  • Must have willingness to learn 
  • Ability to obtain a security Clearance 


Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Programming experience with C/C++, and/or Python
  • Previous experience on embedded systems. (Personal or Robotics clubs)
  • Knowledge of serial communication protocols
  • Understanding of TCP/IP Networking protocols
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and block diagrams 
  • Organized and detail oriented
