Our proprietary non-viral gene delivery and gene editing platforms serve as a versatile foundation for a wide range of therapeutic modalities, with potential applications extending across a broad spectrum of oncology and genetic diseases. We are committed to building a world-class organization that bridges the gap between early-stage technology discovery and life-changing clinical applications.</span></span></p><p></p><p><span><span>Within this group, the Precision Gene Editing team focuses on the engineering and optimization of next-generation genome editing technologies. Our team’s mission is to discover and develop novel enzymes—including transposases, recombinases, and CRISPR-associated nucleases—to enhance the efficiency and safety of DNA manipulation for our proprietary gene insertion platforms. By integrating rational design, structure-guided computational methods, and directed evolution, we are building a sophisticated protein engineering toolbox designed to manipulate mammalian genomes </span></b><span> </span></span></p><p></p><p><span><b><span>The Opportunity</span></b></span></p><ul><li><p><span><span>Support the design and construction of enzyme variants using molecular biology techniques such as Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate cloning, and site-directed mutagenesis.</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Assist in routine molecular biology tasks, including PCR, restriction digestion, plasmid DNA purification (mini/maxi-preps), and sequence verification to support the iterative building of transposase variants.</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Utilize non-viral delivery methods, including nucleofection and other transfection techniques, to introduce novel gene-insertion tools (transposases, recombinases, or nucleases) into mammalian cell lines and execute cell-based assays to evaluate their efficiency.</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Perform standard analytical assays—such as ddPCR for copy number determination or flow cytometry—to characterize the performance of engineered transposase candidates.</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Utilize computational tools and structural biology data to analyze experimental results, helping to refine design strategies and predict the performance of engineered protein variants.</span></span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span><b><span>Program Highlights</span></b></span></p><ul><li><p><span><b><span>Intensive 12-week, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.</span></b></span></p></li><li><p><span><b><span>Program start dates are in Education:</span></b></span></p><p></p><p><span><b><span>You meet one of the following criteria:</span></b></span></p><ul><li><p><span><span>Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Must have attained a Master's Degree.</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled molecular biology (cloning, PCR) and familiarity with genome editing technologies (CRISPR, piggyBac, recombinases).</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection, and functional cell-based assays.</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Understanding of protein engineering techniques (e.g., rational design, directed evolution, library design).</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of maintaining precise experimental records (Electronic Lab Notebooks) and performing basic data analysis.</span></span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span><b><span>Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications</span></b></span></p><ul><li><p><span><span>Experience with ddPCR for genomic quantification and/or Flow Cytometry for fluorescent reporter expression.</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Familiarity with programming languages (Python or R) for biological data analysis or software for structural protein modeling (e.g., PyMOL, AlphaFold, Rosetta).</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal
