Our mission is to unlock the full potential of data, to accelerate innovative healthcare solutions for patients and society.</span></p><p></p><p><span>This internship position is located in</span><b><span> </span><b>South San Francisco, on-site</b><span>.</span></b></p><p></p><p><b><b>The Opportunity</b></b></p><ul><li><p><b><span>​​</span></b><span>Statistical research: Applied problems with direct relevance to ongoing clinical drug development of a molecule in the Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolomic disease area.  </span></p></li><li><p><span>Optimize the trial design \for molecules in weight management and glycemic control.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Learn and support statistical related activities in real clinical trials, e.g. working on statistical analysis plan. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Using R or Python, develop an algorithm to explore study design components.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Using R or Python, run simulations to evaluate study design operating characteristics under various assumptions taking into account disease specific challenges on patient dropout, confounding factors such as GLP-1 use and imputation methods.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Program Highlights</b></b></p><ul><li><p><b><b>6 months paid internship, first 12 weeks must be full time (40 hours/week) onsite, while the rest can be either full time or part time, remote or onsite, with the opportunity to extend to up to 12 months.</b></b></p></li><li><p><b><b>Program start dates are in May/June 2026.</b></b></p></li><li><p><b><b>A stipend will be provided to selected interns to help alleviate costs associated with the internship</b><span>.</span></b></p></li><li><p><span>Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Work with some of the most talented people in the pharmaceutical biotechnology industry.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Final presentations of project work to senior leaders.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Lead or participate in intern committees to design and coordinate program events and initiatives.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, including networking opportunities, workshops, and panel discussions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Participate in volunteer projects, social events, and team-building activities.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Who You Are (Required) </b></b></p><p></p><p><b><b>Required Education</b></b></p><p><span>You meet one of the following criteria:</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Must have attained a Master's Degree (no more than a year ago).</span></p></li><li><p><span>Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student with at least one year of graduate work by May 2026).</span></p></li><li><p><span>Must have attained a PhD (no more than a year ago).</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Required Majors:</b><span> </span></b><span>Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Biotechnology, or related fields.</span></p><p></p><p><b><b>Required Skills:</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Solid training in statistics and/or data science.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Intermediate programming ability in R or Python; familiarity with R Shiny is a plus.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experienced problem solver capable of seeking help when needed.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Excellent communicator, collaborator and team player; comfortable explaining complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with software development workflow including versioning and code collaboration with Git.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Passion for learning and curious about drug development in the pharmaceutical biotechnology industry.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span>Along with the submission of your CV, a cover letter is optional.</span></p><p></p><p><b><b>Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. </b></b></p><p><span>The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $50.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
