The Mission of Newport Mental Health is to improve the lives of children, adults, and families who live, work, and study in Newport County by providing the highest quality, recovery-oriented, evidence-based and integrated mental health and substance use care. Founded in 1964, Newport Mental Health provides services to children, adolescents, families, and adults who are experiencing mental illness, substance use, or stress in their lives, who would benefit from counseling and other behavioral health services and supports. Our person-centered recovery approach to care offers individuals a chance to achieve a better quality of life and recovery from emotional illness. No one will be denied access to services due to an inability to pay. There is a sliding fee schedule available based on family size and income.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES) …


Newport Mental Health, a leading community mental health organization committed to transforming lives and fostering well-being, is seeking a talented and dedicated Grants Intern to join our team. As a Grants Intern, you will support the team with administrative functions as it pertains to grants. This is a semester-long internship from February to May 2026.



Essential Duties:

  • Support with grant related fidelity monitoring.
  • General administrative support as assigned by manager.
  • Preparation of supporting documentation as needed.
  • Other related grant support.

Requirements

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU…

  • Enrolled in a university or college program at junior or senior level.
  • Self-motivated and independent, with the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel and the entire Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using an electronic health record and working in the mental health field is preferred.
