Intern, Intelligence Project (Summer 2026)

As an internationally recognized nonprofit organization, the Center is dedicated to reducing bigotry and oppression through research and public education, outreach, litigation and policy advocacy.</p> <h1>Who You Are</h1> <p></p> <p><strong>Passionate.</strong> Demonstrated passion for advancing civil rights and social justice issues, a strong interest in research and analysis of modern socio-political movements’ impact on communities and on political violence, and ready to partner on producing quality research that advances our mission.</p> <p><strong>Driven.</strong> Ability to help our team conduct research to support countering white supremacy and hard-right extremism in the U.S.</p> <p><strong>Data-Driven.</strong> Ability to pull data together in both qualitative and quantitative forms. An interest in collecting, compiling, and analyzing data extracted from open source intelligence.</p> <p><span data-teams="true"><strong>Mission, Vision &amp; Values Alignment</strong>. Demonstrates an understanding of and a commitment to SPLC's mission, vision and values.</span><br></p> <h1>What You'll Do</h1> <p></p> <p><strong>Focus</strong> on a few key research projects by working alongside our Intelligence Project Research team to research, write, and analyze data.</p> <p><strong>Assist</strong> in drafting research memos, fact sheets, and other writings.</p> <p><strong>Monitor</strong> news and other sources for relevant information.</p> <p><strong>Identify</strong> useful resources, analysis, and information of relevance for the Intelligence Project.</p> <p><strong>Collaborate</strong> with other members of the Intelligence Project team to support ongoing policy research needs.</p> <p><span data-teams="true"><strong>Uphold our JEDI </strong>principles by seeking diverse collaborators and partners that can deliver genuine, authentic and impactful work while ensuring their contributions are directed towards the shared mission, vision and values of the center and department’s goals.</span></p> <h1>Minimum Qualifications</h1> <p><em>We are committed to equitable hiring practices. Therefore, you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.</em></p> <ul> <li>Currently enrolled in a minimum of a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university;</li> <li>Demonstrated research capabilities; and</li> <li>Strong written and oral communication skills.</li> </ul> <h1>Compensation &amp; Benefits</h1> <p>The Center pays $17.95 per hour. Interns are expected to work 40 hours a week and there maybe opportunity for supervisor&nbsp;approved overtime.</p> <h1>Where and How You'll Work</h1> <p>This role has the following work designation:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Remote</strong>: Will work remotely.</li> <li>Work hours are flexible with some requirements for periodic daytime meetings.</li> <li>This position will report to the&nbsp; Manager, Research.</li> </ul> <h1>Other Special Considerations</h1> <p>This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.</p> <p>Due to the high volume of applications received, we are unable to respond to inquiries by telephone.</p> <p>Interns are expected to begin June 1st, 2026. A minimum commitment of ten consecutive weeks is expected.
