Santa Clara, California, United States

About the role:
Are you a curious, hands-on problem solver who’s passionate about building and tinkering? Join Collaborative Robotics this summer as a Robotics Intern, where you'll explore real-world applications in mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems while working alongside a cutting-edge team building the next generation of collaborative mobile robots.

We’re offering a unique opportunity for rising college sophomores and juniors to learn and contribute in a fast-paced startup environment — with a focus on hands-on robot testing and real-world engineering experience!

This role is located at our Santa Clara, CA headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spend the summer designing and building a complex electromechanical system with the guidance of a full time engineer (e.g. a mechanical test setup, a robot arm, or an end effector)

  • Troubleshoot and debug electromechanical systems and assemblies

  • Learn from engineers across test, mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines through mentorship and shadowing

  • Take part in team standups, demos, and engineering walkthroughs to see how real products come together

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a 4-year engineering program studying Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Biomedical engineering, or a related field

  • Basic familiarity with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, Onshape, etc...)

  • Hands-on experience using tools in the real world

  • Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and collaborate with others

  • Highly motivated teammate with excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Desire to work in a fast paced, collaborative and dynamic start-up environment as part of a small team

  • Able to work full-time (around 40 hours/week) onsite in Santa Clara, CA for the duration of the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of how to design parts for 3-axis CNC machining

  • Fabrication experience with 3D printers, laser cutters, drill presses, etc…

  • Familiarity with how to use a microcontroller (e.g. Arduino) to make a project come to life
