Role Overview:

Join the Analytical Research & Development team within Veranova for a dynamic summer internship. Our program consists of a 10–12-week internship at our Devens, MA location. The Summer Intern is responsible for the implementation of laboratory improvements, which may include reorganization of supplies to support a 5S or other organizational system and general laboratory improvements. Areas of improvement may include reference standards, metrology and/or general lab support. Job duties may change rapidly to support the daily operation of the laboratories, and the summer intern must be able to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.

Work may be required in areas where potent and hazardous chemicals are in use. However, appropriate training will be provided to ensure safety.


Core Responsibilities:       

  • Follow established laboratory safety procedures and adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Design and execute lab improvement initiatives under the guidance of senior analysts.
  • Assist in the execution of laboratory experiments, including sample analysis, analytical method development and validation.
  • Develop and implement a system for inventory of reference material, instrument utilization, from planning to execution. 
  • Assist in the maintenance and inventory management of reagents, chemicals, and consumables used in the lab execution.
  • Oversee the inspection and maintenance of analytical instruments under supervision. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality Control (QC), Chemical Development, and Quality Assurance (QA), to support analytical activities.
  • Assist in the procurement of materials as required.
  • Maintain high standards of written documentation and ensure accuracy.
  • Provide general support to chemists and scientists as needed.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with team members and stakeholders. 
  • Volunteer to assist with tasks beyond the scope of specific projects, demonstrating flexibility. 
  • Show initiative and responsibility in completing assigned duties.
  • Perform any additional duties within the scope of your skills and abilities as required.

                                                                                                            

Qualifications: 

Required

  • Working towards a BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, biology, or related field
  • Minimum Overall GPA of 3.0 required
  • Must be adaptable, strive for excellence, and demonstrate a positive attitude in the face of adversity
  • Proficiency with statistic tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills a must, coupled with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships to achieve results
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills essential

 

Preferred

  • Experience with 5S or other standardized workplace organization methods
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of cGMP 

 

Pay Range: $20 - $22 per hour
