Role Overview:

Join the Chemical Process Research & Development team within Veranova for a dynamic summer internship. Our program consists of a 10–12-week internship at our Devens, MA location. This role focuses on accelerating pharmaceutical innovation by combining hands-on experimental work with cutting-edge laboratory technology. The intern will support the development of complex active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) through literature search, experimental planning and execution, analyzing results to draw conclusions, discussing and presenting findings to team members, and maintaining proper electronic documentation. You will gain exposure to process optimization, analytical instrumentation, and data-driven experimental design while contributing to real-world R&D projects.

Core Responsibilities:       

  • Experimental Execution: Assist in designing and executing chemical experiments using both chemistry and analytical techniques. 
  • Data Analysis & Optimization: Collect, process, and analyze experimental data to identify process limitations.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate electronic laboratory notebook records. Create comprehensive documentation for new workflows, protocols, and tutorials.
  • Communication: Prepare regular progress reports and deliver a final presentation summarizing project contributions, findings, and lessons learned to the department.
  • Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety guidelines, attend safety training sessions, and maintain a safe laboratory environment.

Qualifications: 

Required

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.7.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a laboratory environment and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data recording and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred

  • Previous co-op or internship experience in chemical development in academia or related pharmaceutical settings.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, ChemDraw, literature search databases (e.g., SciFinder, Reaxys), and data analysis software (e.g., Excel).
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation (GC, MS, HPLC).
  • Familiarity with reaction kinetics.

Pay Range: $20 - $22 per hour
