About the Role

Human Resources Intern

REPORTS TO: HR Manager

 

SUMMARY - 

This is a great opportunity for an intern to learn the overall Human Resource department of a manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on recruiting.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to the HR Manager including data entry, call logs, filing and running reports.
  • Assist with HR daily processes including timecard administration, coordinate with hiring managers on recruiting, testing, interviewing & selection process, ensure legal compliance regarding applicant tracking and provide administrative support to all HR events.
  • Screen applicants and provide routine information; maintain all employee application records. Send out or conduct authorized reference checks, process, and receive criminal background screening results, and physical and drug test results.
  • Create and maintain employee files
  • Prepare new hire packets, orientation materials, benefit packets and other employee communications for distribution
  • Maintain Applicant Tracking System
  • Manage and track time off requests and points
  • Support HR Manager with benefits and payroll related items
  • Additional duties may be assigned by Management

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Currently enrolled in an HR or related field.

Desire to learn the HR function

Excellent oral and written communication skill

Computer literate (proficient in MS Word and Excel)

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales reports, operating instructions, and training and procedure manuals.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak and communicate clearly and effectively.  Bilingual preferred.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, proportions, percentages, and volume.  

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear, stand, and sit.
