Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council’s External Relations team is seeking an External Relations Summer Student who will work alongside marketing and communications professionals [HK2] to help showcase SRC’s innovative research, technologies, and impacts. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in content creation, digital marketing, and corporate communications. This position is a 4-month term, starting in May 2026.
Accountabilities
- Develop and support the creation of content for SRC’s marketing and communications channels, projects, and materials which include social media, website content, newsletters, campaigns, presentations, and promotional materials
- Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of internal and external events, including promotional support before, during, and after events
- Support the development and production of SRC’s Annual Report, including content gathering, editing, layout coordination, and approvals
- Assist with visual content creation (e.g., social media graphics, simple layouts, and presentations) using established brand guidelines and user-friendly tools
- Collaborate with team members across the council to gather information and support storytelling initiatives
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution pursuing a degree or diploma related to marketing, communications, graphic design, journalism, or a related field. English, journalism, or other writing-focused majors may be considered
- Previous experience with writing, social media, graphic design tools, or event support (through coursework, volunteer work, or employment) is considered an asset
Skills
- Team player with effective interpersonal, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
