Valero is on the search for energetic and motivated students to join the Valero Intern Program. The internship program has an opening for an Engagement and Public Policy Intern who is ready for new and exciting challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Major Accountabilities:
•    Assists the team in the development of communication materials such as the Sustainability Report.
•    Assists with the completion of sustainability, governance and similar questionnaires for scoring agencies.
•    Researches and performs peer analyses on sustainability, shareholder engagement and public policy matters. 
•    Researches and performs analysis of post-proxy season voting.
•    Interacts and works with the investor relations, advertising and communications, legal, environmental, strategic planning and human resources teams.

•    Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deliver high quality work products within stated time requirements.
•    Receptive to feedback.
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
•    Active learner and willingness to ask questions / seek understanding.
•    Holds strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
•    Computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, and presentations.
•    This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.



•    Currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate or a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, or Business Administration required.
•    Overall GPA of 3.0 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
•    Graduation date between August 2026 to May 2028 required. 
•    Able to work 40 hours per week during the summer required.
•    Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation required.
•    Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications required.
•    This is an onsite, in-person internship at the Valero Headquarters in San Antonio required.
