Opportunity

AIMCo's Information Security team is seeking a student to assist with projects designed to improve identity access management processes at AIMCo while challenging the student's analytical, organizational and communication skills. You will gain hands on experience across information security operations, governance, and security processes while receiving guidance from experienced team members.

 This is a full-time 4-month internship starting in May 2026.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist with Identity Access Management (IAM) day-to-day operations which involve processing user access requests, including provisioning, modifications, and deprovisioning  

  • Assist with governance activities, including collecting data, maintaining documentation, supporting process and procedure updates 

  • Assist with maintaining accurate user profiles, roles, and permissions in IAM systems; Support role-based access control (RBAC) and least privilege access principles. 

  • Log, track, and update service requests on time in the ticketing system  

  • Support third-party application oversight by confirming application owners, checking required information, categorizing applications using predefined criteria, and submitting security review requests. 

  • Assist with periodic access reviews by gathering data, compile review lists, support followups, and track responses 

  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes 

  • Assist in troubleshooting basic IAM issues such as access provisioning errors and escalating more complex issues 

  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly and professionally with end-users and business owners.

Our Ideal Candidate 

  • Undergraduate or master’s student enrolled in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

  • Previous experience in a Customer Service role is advantageous 

  • Knowledge of information security and identity access management  

  • In depth knowledge of front office software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc) 

  • Familiarity with scripting languages and the ability to support small automation or datavalidation tasks 

  • Understanding of Active Directory and Entra is an asset 

  • Experience with a ticketing system, such as Service Now, is an asset 

  • Experience in an IT support role will be considered an asset 

Success Measures   

Success in this role includes demonstrating strong communication and teamwork, ticket management within expected timelines, accurate documentation, completion of access reviews, and effective support of IAM and thirdparty risk governance.
